I have always thought I would someday have an art studio of my very own. A special place where I could do my own artwork and invite others to join me to have fun creating art. That day has arrived! I am very proud to introduce my “Artist Within” studio, here in Easton, Maryland. The studio space is bright and airy. The perfect place discover your inner artist.

In 1974, as a starry-eyed graduate of (what was then) College of Notre Dame of Maryland, I earned a BA in Art Education, I looked forward to becoming an art teacher. But looking back on it now, I had no true sense of the major impact being an art educator would become in my life. Once I landed my first job at Easton Middle School as the sixth grade art teacher, I realized that the mix of art and students was the perfect combination for me. I had found my niche. I’ve been fortunate to spend my career teaching in both public and private schools. I have also taught private art lessons as well as conducted art camps. I have taught art courses to adults as well as children. A factor that I didn’t fully realize was how much I enjoyed school itself. Whether as a teacher or as a student. I have done additional coursework at the University of Delaware, Chesapeake College, Washington State University, and Fitchburg State University. My years as an educator has taught me so much. The power of positive thinking, the fun of being creative, and the awesomeness of the human spirit. I treasure the memories of the experiences I’ve shared with my students as we explored the world of art. It is so often that a student does not realize all they can achieve. And then they do!

I am a member of the National Art Education and DAEA. I was a board member of the Delaware Art Educator Association, including being their treasurer for 8 years. I’ve been a workshop presenter at state conferences. I currently hold a K-12 DE Art Educator certificate. I was the 2010 DE Art Educator of the Year. I was twice awarded Teacher of the Year at Lake Forest East Elementary. I’ve been awarded many grants for the extra special initiatives I wanted to do with my students. The MBNA Foundation gave me a Most Innovative Grant award.

I am an avid art history buff. I have done extensive studies of world cultures supported by international travel to Greece, Italy, England, Scotland, Costa Rica, and Canada. My teaching background has expanded my experiences with many diverse types of media. I especially enjoy drawing, watercolor, and sculpture. But I also enjoy printmaking, ceramics, collage, stained glass, calligraphy, and fiber arts.
